We provide guidance (e.g. cases, guides, white papers), networking and tools on sustainability - and especially energy and resource efficiency - in knowledge-intensive organisations. We began, and retain a strong presence, in universities but now also work in health, hitech, pharma and similar areas.
Labs have a large energy and environmental footprint. In collaboration with US Labs 21, we're showing that this can be reduced - creating business benefits too - and providing assessment and improvement tools for designers, technicians and users. | Information and communication technology is effectively steam-powered as its production and use is very dependent on fossil fuel-derived electricity. Our JISC-funded projects on scientific computing, conferencing and (as partners) incentives for energy efficient ICT and intelligent laboratories are helping to reduce this burden. |
We project managed the BREEAM Higher Education scheme (and its special lab credits) for the sector, and our benchmarking data and guides can help to improve operational performance. | We founded the sector's Green Gown Awards, and our old HEEPI site has still useful materials such as a campus sustainability assessment tool, cases, guides and transport surveys. |
